Frank Edgar vs Spencer Fisher
I took Spencer Fisher in my predictions section, but either one of these guys could really take this fight.
Round 1
Edgar lands the first strike, they move back to the center. Edgar takes Fisher down, attempting a guillotine choke, Spencer Fisher is out. Spencer Fisher is on his back. Upkick atempt, Edgar working from within Fisher's guard. They return to their feet. Back to the ground with Edgar on top. Elbows from the bottom for Fisher. It's very even from this position (Edgar in Fisher's guard). Body body head for Edgar, elbow from Edgar, they remain in guard. Back to their feet and Fisher misses a high kick and slips, back into the same position, Edgar in Fisher's guard. Edgar landing big shots from the top now as he postures up, now back to guard. Elbows from the top and Edgar is running away with the first round.
I give the first round to Frank Edgar.
Round 2
Edgar throws a punch, Fisher attempts a knee and back to the ground, this time with Edgar passing...but it's back to guard quickly. Edgar postures up, throws a big punch and goes to side control. Back to their feet. Edgar goes for a takedown, stuffed, but tries again and gets it. Back to the good old guard position with Edgar in Fisher's guard. More punches from the top for Edgar. Edgar passes to side control, landing elbows from the top and back to guard. Elbow/punch combination from the top for Frank Edgar. Edgar is halfway to side control, but his leg is tied up, Fisher is almost turtling at this point to the punches from the top. Cut over the left eye of Fisher. Good punch from the top for Edgar. Fisher kicks out, but Edgar takes him down again. This is a little Sean Sherk-esque with Edgar completely dominating the control on the ground. Edgar has Fisher's back, but only 15 seconds left, back to guard.
I give round two to Frank Edgar based on completely dominant ground control.
Fisher had better keep this on his feet for the third round, he does not have any answers to Edgar on the ground.
Round 3
Edgar with a quick takedown and almost immediately into side control, now he has his back, it's going to be over soon. Rear naked choke attempt, but Fisher is controlling Edgar's hands, nice defence. They get back to their feet. Spencer Fisher gets taken down again and back to the guard position with Fisher on the bottom again. Edgar has Fisher up against the fence and is pounding him there. It looks like Fisher is getting more than a little frustrated with Edgar's complete control. Back on their feet, another chance for Fisher, but Edgar lands a punch. This is not the same Spencer Fisher who we saw fight Sam Stout. He hasn't landed anything on his feet. They return to the ground in the now all too familiar guard. There is a minute and a half left in the fight and I expect it to be just like the past 13 and a half minutes. Triangle attempt by Fisher, too little too late, Frankie now has his back and landing shots from behind. Hammer fist by Frank Edgar. Thirty seconds, this one is going to a decision.
I give round 3 to Frank Edgar and I would give the entire fight 30-27 to Frank Edgar.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Frank Edgar
(That puts me at 0-1 on my UFC 78 Predictions tonight)
Joe Doerksen vs Ed Herman
I picked Joe Doerksen in this fight, that prediction might very well back-fire. Who wins will depend which Ed Herman shows up tonight. Will it be the guy who went to war with Kendall Grove in the Ultimate Fighter finale, or the Ed Herman who tapped to Jason MacDonald?
Round 1
Doerksen looks good in the standup early and now has Hermn pressed against the cage. Herman takes the fight to the ground, Herman is on top. Joe using the butterfly guard, Herman passes one let, looking for side control. They are back to their feet. Herman lands a nice punch/elbow combination and Doerksen has Herman pressed against the fence again. Herman on top on the bottom again, Joe Doerksen is cut. Elbows from the top by Herman as he tries to finish Doerkson by opening that cut. Herman has the mount, using top position well, Doerkson back into full guard. Ed is winning the ground game with good ground and pound. It's all elbows from the top by Ed Herman. Blood is now getting in the eyes of Doerksen, you can see him wiping it away.
I give round one to Ed Herman
Round 2
Ed Herman spends most of the first half of round 2 dominating ground position and they are standing again. Swing and miss by Herman, but they are down with Doerksen has his back. Joe has the hooks in and is staying on Herman's back. Not looking good from this position. Herman gets out and Herman now has Joe's back. Joe Doerksen working on a heel hook. Herman is out. Punches from the top/back control position for Herman. This is turning out to be an interesting fight. Doerksen rolls out and returns to his back. Herman now with side control. Triangle attempt by Joe. Round ends and Ed Herman might just have been saved by the horn.
That is a tough round to score. Doerksen had two good submission attempts and another 20 seconds to that round and Ed would have had to tap. I'll give round two to Joe Doerksen.
Round 3
Big hook by Ed Herman and he TKO's Joe Doerksen.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Ed Herman (That makes me 0-2 on predictions tonight)
Karo Parisyan vs Ryo Chonan
With my preformance on the first two fights, I'm afraid to say that I picked Karo Parisyan in this fight.
Round 1
Big punches by both fighters early, followed by a takedown, Karo on top. Karo now in half guard. Punches from guard by Karo. Ryo looks ok on the bottom. Ref stands them up with 3 minutes left in the round. Karo has Ryo against the fence Karo takes him down again. Ryo Chonan is pressed up against the fence on the ground with Karo throwing elbows from the top. Back to their feet, Ryo tries a knee, but nothing there. Good left by Ryo. Karo takes him down and Karo with the superman punch into Chonan's guard.
Round one in the books and you have to give that one to Karo Parisyan
Round 2
Good elbow against the fence by Karo. Both fighters striking, but missing a lot. Karo with a straight left jab. Ryo taken down again and Karo in Ryo's guard. Round is now half over, not much going on this round.
Up against the fence, Karo looking for an arm from the top. Karo takes him down and lands some soft elbows from the top. Karo is dominating from the top, but not doing a lot of damage.
Again, round 2 goes to Karo Parisyan.
Round 3
Trip by Karo and again they are on the ground, this time with Karo being more active from the top. Karo is being extremely dominant in this fight (like a lot of his fights) and just as I say that Ryo Chonan sweeps and takes top position. Chonan scrambles and they are back on the feet. Ryo walks into a big punch by Karo, but both fighters look pretty solid still with one and half minutes left. Karo is getting the better of any standup happening. Both of these guys are slowing down now, they both seem content to win or lose based on what has happened in the first two and a half rounds. Parisyan is looking like the better fighter at this point. Chonan needs a KO at this point and with only 15 seconds left I don't see it happening.
Bell rings and I have to give the third round to Karo Parisyan.
I give all three rounds to Karo Parisyan.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Karo Parisyan (That makes me 1-2 on my predictions tonight)
Houston Alexander vs Thiago Silva
I took Houston Alexander in this fight, just based on his dominant performances so far in the UFC.
Round 1
They clinch immediately and then the ref breaks them up. Silva lands a good shot. Good kick by Silva, Houston presses. Big punches by Alexander. Back to the clinch. To the ground with Houston Alexander on top, Silva is caught in a guillotine. Now Houston is on the bottom with Thiago on top. Full mount for Thiago Silva. Houton holds on from the bottom. Elbows from the top by Thiago Silva. Elbows again from the top and double forearms by Thaigo Silva. Alexander is holding on, but Thiago continues to posture up. Punches, big punches by Silva. He TKO's Houston Alexander.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Thiago Silva by KO.
(That makes my predictions a miserable 1-3 so far tonight, but the fights have been good and that's what counts.)
Rashad Evans vs Michael Bisping
I picked Evans for this one, but the way my predictions have been going so far maybe I should change
Round 1
They trade early and Rashad goes for a takedown. Evans has Bisping up against the fence. Rashad gets the takedown, but Bisping gets up again. Rashad is holding him against the fence. Rashad creates distance and lands a punch. Evans takes down Bisping a couple of times and ends up winning the round.
Round 2
Round 2 I give to Bisping...I had the entire thing typed in, but lost it due to busy server. I'll rewrite after the fight. I gave this round to Bisping, but just barely. Rashad did take Bisping down a couple of times, but in the end I thought Bisping fought well on the ground and better in the standup. I gave this round to Bisping.
Round 3
Starts much like the second with Rashad taking Bisping down and staying in his guard. Bisping stands up and takes Rashad's back, a slip causes Bisping to loose the advantage. Rashad looks gassed. They are now striking again. No clear advantage in the striking in round 3 so far. They dance for a minute and Rashad lands a left. Good combination by Rashad. Evans uses another combination to set up the takedown. Bisping needs something here, otherwise this fight is Rashad's. Rashad has Bisping on his back, pinned against the cage. Bisping stands up, Rashad tries for the takedown again. Rashad lands another combination. Bisping punching Rashad while Rashad is on his knees. One last takedown for Rashad.
I give round 3 to Rashad, but Michael Bisping did a lot in the second half of the third round.
I give this fight to Evans, two rounds to one (29-28)
The judges give it to Rashad Evans by split decision.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Rashad Evans Makes me 2-3 on the night.
From the preliminaries
Joe Lauzon vs Jason Reinhardt
I picked Joe Lauzon in this fight and I don't see any reason to second guess that pick.
Round 1
They are both erratic early, Joe Lauzon tries to take him down and succeeds. Joe is passing for side mount. North-South now, Joe rubbing his elbow , now he has the back and it will be over soon. Joe Lauzon gets the rear naked choke and it is over very early in the first round.
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Joe Lauzon (makes me 3-3 tonight)
Other prelims
Akihiro Gono vs Tamdan McCrory
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Akihiro Gono by submission (submission of the night I'm now 3-4)
Marcus Aurelio vs Luke Caudillo
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Marcus Aurelio by TKO (puts me at 4-4)
Thiago Alves vs Chris Lytle
Ultimate Fighting Results - UFC 78 Winner : Thiago Alves by TKO (puts me at 5-4)

I like Evans all day long in this fight.
Unless the fight goes to the judges, then expect the usual.
Bring Bispings punk ass stateside and throw down to make it fair.
Besides, why can't The Count get a Visa to fight state side? I wonder.....
P.S. The lamest nick name is UFC history. Evans should use Cookie Monster for this one.
My Pre-for next fight;Chuck gets knocked out Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva, meets Jackson in the ring.
Jackson gets his revenge finally.
Ya...BABY!!!!
WELCOME TO MODERN ROME!
"I....LOVE IT!!!!
THANKS AGAIN, MMA MAN.
TO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE A LITTLE BET MACHINE GOING... FOR SOME OF YOUR PREDICTIONS. I WOULD PAY AND PLAY.
