
Below are the MMA Weekly Light Heavyweight world rankings. I agree with their #1 ranking and after that it gets a bit questionable. For instance, putting Shogun at #2 is just plain silly. Shogun was the #2 ranked lhw, maybe even #1, but that was two years and three injuries ago. Remember the following:
1) Broken arm by Mark Coleman
2) Poor performance against Forrest Griffin (was subbed)...Griffin is ranked 6.
3) Knee injury (before Griffin fight...surgery after Griffin fight)
4) Couldn't fight again because of another injury.
That's 3 major injuries and two years since he's fought at his best (against Rampage and Arona). You simply cannot award a #2 world ranking to somebody who's had questionable health and poor performances/non top competition over such a long period. Hey, Lennox Lewis retired as champ...do you think he's still ranked in the heavyweight boxing top 5? Shogun should be moved down to #6 or #7 until he starts fighting (and winning) again.
