Let me set things straight, I am Canadian. I am proud of my country, but when it comes to fighters, my favourites are determined by their fights, not where they were born.

I just went through all of the promo vids on UFC.com for UFC 83 and virtually every non Canadian fighter had a comment about the possiblity of getting boo'd in Montreal. I just want to say that I hope the Canadian fans who show up have more respect than that. Every fighter who steps into the cage deserves our respect.

Go ahead, cheer for your favourites, cheer for your countrymen, but respect each man who steps into the cage and puts it on the line for our entertainment.

I believe that this show will be attended by all types of fans. From the fans who attend every TKO event, to those who travel to Vegas for the UFC shows to fans who've watched every PPV for the last 5 years, but have never been to an event. Lets show our visitors a touch of Canadian class and just celebrate the fact that we finally get a UFC event in Canada.

Here are the official UFC Results Live UFC 83 Predictions...quick and dirty style.

Matt Serra vs St Pierre
I don't want to discount Matt Serra in this fight. He is stronger and faster than most think, his striking is quick and powerful. He has excellent ground control and maybe the best positional BJJ player at 170 lbs. He has all the tools to make life difficult for most guys at 170 lbs, but I really want to see Serra move down to 155 and take on BJ Penn.

St Pierre is probably the best all round fighter in MMA right now (sorry to all the Silva and Fedor lovers out there). His striking is clean and crisp with both hands and feet. He has outstanding takedown defense and great takedowns. When on the ground he has a good wrestling base (shown against Hughes, Trigg and Koscheck). He also has enough BJJ to be dangerous for most guys on the ground.

In theory, St Pierre should take this fight, but as Serra showed before anything can happen. I expect Georges St Pierre to win this fight, but not as easily as many are suggesting.

My predicted UFC 83 Result : Georges St Pierre by TKO or decision

Rich Franklin vs Travis Lutter
Two years ago I thought that Rich Franklin was the most dominant fighter in any division of the UFC. Since then Anderson Silva has beaten him twice. Can Travis Lutter do the same? I doubt it, while Lutter is the better BJJ guy I think that Franklin is more well rounded. I see Rich winning the standup in this fight similar to the David Loiseau fight and then finally getting a TKO ref stoppage in the second.

My predicted UFC 83 Result : Rich Franklin by ref stoppage.

Jason MacDonald vs Joe Doerksen
Quick and dirty, right? Jason MacDonald has a better record against better opposition and I see him finishing Doerksen even quicker than their first fight.

Kalib Starnes vs Nate Quarry
Kalib really impressed me in his fight against Chris Leben, but in the end he couldn't finish Leben on the ground. Quarry has an impressive record, but his only top 10 name is Rich Franklin and he lost that one badly.
UFC 83 Prediction : Kalib Starnes by decision.

Michael Bisping vs Charles McCarthy
The UFC has given Bisping a gift as a reward for moving down from the talent rich 205lb division to the 185lb division. He should dismantly McCarthy easily.

My predicted UFC 83 Result : Michael Bisping by KO

Mac Danzig vs Mark Bocek
Quick and dirty, Danzig by any way he feels like.

UFC 83 Prediction : Mac Danzig by anything he feels like.

Alan Belcher vs Jason Day

UFC 83 Prediction : Alan Belcher by ref stoppage.

Sam Stout vs Rich Clementi
Stout has great hands, but is no match on the ground for Clementi.

My predicted UFC 83 Result : Rich Clementi

UFC 83 is being held in Montreal (first time in Canada) on April 19th. In between eating poutine and drinking some quality Canadian beer I'll try to find time to post my UFC 83 Results

Patrick Cote had a bit of a spill on some ice and as a results has been pulled from the UFC 83 fight card. This is too bad as I'm sure Cote's appearance would have been a big deal in Montreal. Still, I doubt that anyone is asking for their money back on tickets

UFC 83 is being held in Montreal on April 19th, you can watch it on PPV or you can come here for UFC 83 Results...or you could do both.


Stephan Bonner has been removed from April 2nd's UFC fight night card. The April 2nd card is being held in Denver or something and will be available free on Spike TV.

UFC 82 is being held on March 1st in Columbus Ohio (tickets still available)...I will be here posting UFC 82 results, that is if anyone cares. Oh yeah, you could also watch the PPV if you are so inclined.

This shouldn't be a big shock. I tried to get tickets 48 minutes after the pre-sale to fight club members started and only $50's and $500's were available. More than 13,000 tickets sold the first day and most of the rest the second.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization today announced that the first UFC event in Canada UFC 83: SERRA vs. ST-PIERRE 2 taking place Saturday, April 19 live from Montreal’s Bell Centre is sold out, and that the event ranks as the fastest UFC sellout in history.
“Most of the tickets for UFC 83 were sold in the first 24 hours of our UFC Fight Club presale, and the rest were gone within one minute of the public on-sale today,” said Dana White, UFC President. “I’m excited to say that this event is a sellout, and the fastest one in UFC history, so it’s safe to say we definitely will be back in Canada after this inaugural event.”

It looks like a keg of beer, some home-made poutine and a bunch of friends will have to substitute for a road trip to Montreal...don't forget to return here for UFC 82 Results on March 1st and UFC 83 Results on April 19th. Of course there will be other news and events in between including my UFC 82 and UFC 83 predictions.

According to mmajunkie.com, Jason MacDonald has said that his next UFC fight will be in Canada, possibly at UFC 83. A venue or city was not mentioned, but Montreal would be the obvious choice, especially if they can line up Georges St Pierre and Patrick Cote on the same card.

MacDonald says that UFC 83 will take place in Canada and it will happen in April.
