He's 43 years old, 13 years older than Tim Sylvia. Not only that, but he also was 60 pounds or more lighter than Sylvia in this fight. Randy out struck, out wrestled, out BJJ'd and generally out worked Sylvia. This looks very good on Randy for a couple of possible future matches, including one where he'll likely be defending his shiny new heavyweight belt against Mirko Cro Cop. As for Tim Sylvia, I have no idea how he defeated Andrei Arlovski. I'm hoping that Arlovski comes back strong and makes a future run at the title.

Congratulations Randy Couture, the new and three time UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Rich Franklin makes Jason MacDonald quit.
- Rich Franklin gave Jason MacDonald a two round beat down and MacDonald couldn't answer the bell for the third round. Franklin shows why he was once the best at 185 and might be again in the future. MacDonald, on the other hand has some work to do on his stand up before he takes on someone like Franklin...or Silva.

Matt Hughes decisions Chris Lytle.
- Not the most impressive performance I've ever seen from Matt Hughes. Hughes should have been able to get a ref stoppage or submission in this fight, but really all he accomplished was holding Lytle down for 15 minutes and landing a few ground and pound shots. Lytle turned out to be tougher on the ground than I thought he'd be, but he was basically ineffective in the stand up (where he should have dominated). An easy victory for Hughes, but he's not going to hold Georges St Pierre down like that!

Jason Lambert KO'd Renalto Sobral. Looks like Babalu needs to work on his stand up! UFC 68 is being held in Columbus Ohio on March 3rd, 2007.

Tim Sylvia vs Randy Couture
- This is the main event and Randy Coutures return from retirement. I am a big fan of Randy Couture, but he should have stayed retired. Tim Silvia will defeat Randy Couture by TKO, then after a plate of cheeseburgers he'll lube up his belt and it's off to his suite for a little private time.

The closer it gets to fight time, the more I want Randy Couture to win this bout. Randy is an awesome athelete, let's hope that he can overcome the physical disadvantages that he has against Sylvia and push Sylvia's cardio to the point where Sylvia has no choice but to quit.

Chris Lytle vs Matt Hughes
- Matt Hughes will easily defeat Chris Lytle. I'm looking for a dominant performance from Matt, a statement for Georges St Pierre to sit up and take notice. Matt Hughes has vowed to go back to his bread and butter style of ground and pound. He's going to pick Lytle up, slam him, then beat him up.

Drew McFedries vs Martin Kampmann
- No Choice

Rich Franklin vs Jason MacDonald
- Going by their records, I would normall give this one to Franklin, however I like what I saw out of MacDonald in his last two fights. Look for MacDonald to stand with Franklin just long enough to take him to the ground and work his submissions. Jason MacDonald by submission.

The more hype I watch about this fight, the more I'm leaning toward Franklin. Two items I've seen are making me start to lean that way. First of all, a lot of people are questioning MacDonalds chin, certainly not good when facing Rich Franklin. The second is the way Franklin says "I'll knock him out in the first round" in the UFC promotional video.

Jason Lambert vs Renato Sobral
- Babalu needs to work his way back up the food chain, look for a submission victory from Sobral.

Rex Holman vs Matt Hamill
- I'm looking for Hamill to ground and pound his way to a victory. Hopefully this time by ref stoppage. I think Hamill needs a dynamic victory if he's to stay in the UFC. I never question Hamill's will to win, or his skills, however I do question how long it takes for him to recover following a hard punch.

Mon, 26 Feb 2007 09:04:00 -0700 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/78-guid.html Why Tim Sylvia Will Defeat Randy Couture http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/86-Why-Tim-Sylvia-Will-Defeat-Randy-Couture.html UFC 68 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/86-Why-Tim-Sylvia-Will-Defeat-Randy-Couture.html#comments http://www.ufcresultslive.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=86 3 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=86 nospam@example.com (Johnny MMA)

Tim Sylvia

Sometimes in life we need to take a step back, ignore our hearts and go with our heads. UFC 68 on March 3rd, in Columbus Ohio is one of those times. The main event on the UFC 68 card is Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia vs Randy "The Natural" Couture. Tim Sylvia stands 6'8" and weighs in around 265 pounds and is 30 years old. Randy Couture is 6'1", 205 pounds (probably 10 or 15 heavier for this fight and is 43 years old. Almost everyone I know wants Randy to defeat Tim Sylvia, but they are thinking with their hearts, not their heads.

Continue reading "Why Tim Sylvia Will Defeat Randy Couture" Fri, 23 Feb 2007 05:00:06 -0700 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/86-guid.html UFC 68 Predictions http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/59-UFC-68-Predictions.html UFC 68 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/59-UFC-68-Predictions.html#comments http://www.ufcresultslive.com/wfwcomment.php?cid=59 8 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/rss.php?version=2.0&type=comments&cid=59 nospam@example.com (Johnny MMA) I know it's early, but I want to give my preliminary predictions for UFC 68. More complete predictions will come closer to fight night.

UFC 68 is being held on March 3rd, 2007 in Columbus Ohio.

Here are my preliminary UFC 68 Predictions

Matt Hughes vs Chris Lytle
Matt is too strong for Chris.

Prediction - Matt Hughes by ref stoppage.

Tim Sylvia vs Randy Couture
I want Randy to win this, but Tim Sylvia is probably too big, too tall, too strong and too young.

Prediction - Tim Sylvia by TKO

Rich Franklin vs Jason MacDonald
Rich Franklin is still the man. Jason MacDonald is impressive, but has work to do.

Prediction - Rich Franklin by ref stoppage.

Ok, that's who's going to win, but this is who I want to win.

Matt Hughes - Can't wait to see a rematch with either BJ Penn or Georges St Pierre. Or for that matter, I'd also like to see Matt Hughes fight Diego Sanchez or Josh Koscheck.

Randy Couture - How can you not root for Randy Couture. Don't worry Randy, I'll be screaming my lungs out for you at this one. Sorry I didn't pick you in the early predictions

Jason MacDonald - I really liked Jason against Chris Leben and Ed Herman. Although I don't think Jason's time is March 3rd, I believe in the next 18 months Jason will challenge for the title. Tue, 6 Feb 2007 15:44:55 -0700 http://www.ufcresultslive.com/archives/59-guid.html
