Pride 34 Kamikaze started much as expected with huge fan fare, an emotional and inspiring highlight reel and then fighter introductions. This is the last Pride to be presented under Dream Stage Entertainment.

Zelg Galesic vs. Makoto Takimoto
Takimoto wins by submission after a back and forth battle.

Gilbert Yvel vs. Akira Shoji
Gilbert Yvel by ground and pound TKO...following a heel hook dual.

Zelg Galesic vs. Makoto Takimoto
Makoto Takimoto by arm submission.

Don Frye vs James Thompson
Don Frye hit James Thompson early and knocked him to the ground. Frye was unable to capitalize on this. The rest of the fight was Thompson (with the exception of a short lived choke attempt by Frye). In the end, Thompson TKO's Frye. To Frye's credit, he did not give up or even fall down, but the ref called it when Frye turned his back to Thompson.

In my opinion, Frye took way too much damage in this fight. The ref should have stopped this fight much sooner (as much as 30 seconds before he did).

More to come...

The title says it all. James Frye who is always 100% willing to mix it up will face the giant James Thompson at Pride 34 Kamikaze.

Look for Frye to take this one fairly easily, even with Thompson's advantages is size and youth.

Expect an exciting fight with lots of stand up action.

Is the UFC <-> Pride crossover starting already? Monson vs Fajita has been added to the Pride 34 Kamikaze card. Should be a good match. Apparently Wanderlei Silva has also been added to the card.

BTW: Fajita's nickname is "Iron Head"...unfortunately I don't see Monson striking with him.

What a waste of time.

Also announced was Gilbert Yvel vs Bazagit Atajev.

Maybe I do hope that the UFC owners purchase Pride FC after all.

Here is the official Pride 34 Kamikaze commercial. April 8, from Tokyo Japan.

PrideFC.com has a list of the fights...but only 3 of them. I believe that I already listed them in an earlier posting. Enjoy the vid!
